Latvia has 35 Local Action Groups that implement Local Development strategies. 6 of these Local Action groups conduct activity in coastal territory and implement strategies not only with EAFRD (European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development) but also with resources from EMFF (European Maritime and Fisheries Fund).

The following activities and initiatives are supported by the available financial resources in the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund:
- Creation of added value and innovation in all stages of fishery and aquaculture products;
- Facilitation of economic growth, creation of jobs and support for coastal communities in diversifying their economic activity;
- Support for sustainable aquaculture and fishery developments;
- Usage facilitation of fishery and maritime heritage.
