Project “Conservation and promotion of coastal fishery traditions and cultural inheritance in Vidzeme” by Local Action groups “Jūras Zeme” and “”Jūrkante” is being implemented in municipalities of Carnikava, Saulkrasti and Salacgrīva.
During this project, a digital tool will be made where experience stories and interviews of coastal fishermen will be gathered. This tool will compile not only stories, but also 3D and interactive tourism objects that are crucial for maritime and fishery culture in this region, allowing users of this tool to easily navigate through the region and get to know the history and must-see places.
A great emphasis is put on the generational change, where the fishermen experience stories and skills will be carried over to the upcoming generation of the coastal region – school students. Partners of the project aim to promote not only the heritage of the maritime and fishery culture, but also encourage students to participate in the fishery culture. In addition, the digital tool will facilitate tourism flow and understanding of the historical aspect of the region.
