Tartu County Development Association organized a study tour for the Latvian partners of NGO Sea Land within the Estonian-Latvian Interreg cooperation project “Building Stronger River Networks: Empowering Rural Communities through Joint Action” on July 1 – 3, 2024. The purpose of the study trip was to introduce Latvians to the region’s peculiarities, developments, challenges, share experiences and thoughts. In addition, the study visit provided an opportunity to meet representatives of local interest groups, strengthen the cooperation network between Emajõgi and Gauja rivers, and gather input for creating a joint strategy.
During the study trip, they got to know the developments, networks, museums, tourist attractions and events related to River Emajõgi, Lake Peipsi and Lake Võrtsjärv. But there were also seminars and discussions on the topics of the joint cooperation project. The guests from Latvia were primarily tourism entrepreneurs related to the river Gauja, promoters of local life and members of the NGO Sea Land local action group.
