Infrastructure pilot activity selected for the Gauja River within the “River Networks” project

In mid-April 2026, a seminar for the evaluation of infrastructure-related pilot activity ideas was held in Ādaži, Latvia, within the framework of the “River Networks” project. The aim of the seminar was to select the most suitable activity for further development and implementation.

The seminar began with field visits to the proposed pilot activity sites in the Gauja River region, allowing participants to explore different ideas on site. The solutions presented were diverse and included plans to create an autonomous recreational cabin on a river island, develop environmentally friendly pedestrian infrastructure with a birdwatching platform, establish a landing site on the Gauja River bank, and develop a recreational area with a boat launch and retrieval facility at the starting point of the lower Gauja.
